Everglades Fishing

Fish the calm waters of one of the wildest places on earth.

Fishing The Everglades

Fishing in the Everglades is unlike fishing anywhere else. The Everglades National Park is one of the wildest places in North America and the third largest contiguous wilderness in the lower 48 states. Only accessible by boat, the Everglades provides the perfect place to escape with family, friends or business colleagues for the fishing trip of a lifetime.

The Everglades offers hundreds of miles of mangrove shorelines that protect the shallow bays, rivers, and creeks that comprise the glades from the wind and offers calm, comfortable year-round fishing opportunities for anglers of all abilities.

The Everglades is home to a variety of species of fish:

  • Snook

  • Tarpon

  • Redfish

  • Sharks

  • Goliath Grouper

  • Permit

  • Pompano

  • Tripletail

  • Mackerel

  • Cobia

  • Seatrout

  • Little Tunny

  • Snapper

  • Black Drum

  • More

Fishing in the Everglades is still fishing - some days are better than others, although SW Florida is blessed with good fishing more often than not. The climate of Southwest Florida has two distinct seasons, the summer (April - October) and the winter (November - March) and the fishing opportunities vary between them.

The Winter: Winter weather is generally the most unstable of the year. Cold fronts bring cool temperatures and wind from every direction, keeping fish on the move and eager to take an easy meal. Between the cold fronts, the winds subside, the temperature warms, and the fish feed aggressively. Some of the best fishing of the year is in the winter, but it is also the busiest time of the year so make sure to book an Everglades fishing charter well in advance.

The Summer: Summers are generally hotter and wetter than the winter months. The wind is usually calmer and more stable, blowing lightly from the east/southeast in the morning and then switching out of the west in the afternoons. Bait is plentiful and relatively easy to catch. The fishing can be off the charts good for many species including tarpon which migrate through the area in good numbers from April through June. The summer months are the least busy time of the year and not seeing another boat on the water is a legitimate possibility.

We fish the northern half of the Everglades National Park and the 10,000 Islands National Wildlife Refuge from Everglades City, FL. Everglades City is easily accessible from Naples, Fort Myers, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale for those who want to spend a day or for those who want to fly down for a week.
